This original piece depicts rather a small owl - the long eared owl is smaller than a wood pigeon! Their long ear tufts and vibrant orange eyes are two of their most distinctive features, and of course give them their name. They are rather secretive and nocturnal, nesting in dense woodland and hunting over open ground at night. They are one of the most numerous owl species in the world, travelling extensively along migratory routes which they follow every year.

This drawing can be framed and mounted to show the feathers and minute details of this lovely bird off to its full advantage. Posted unframed in a clear plastic sleeve, reinforced with cardboard backing to protect the drawing from damage.
