This painting was inspired by a gorgeous afternoon walk along the beach Widemouth Bay in Bude. I wanted to use the colours and the shimmering light on the sand and stone to convey the fresh chill in the air that day and also to create the feeling that for this couple walking along the beach they are the only people in the world with the horizon stretching out ahead of them. This painting looks at the relationship people have with the sea as a source of healing and of romance and a place to blow away the cobwebs of day-to-day life.
